MUSICA BLUES
Ah... Musica blues ambrata!
Come se sfiorasse i cuori con un'ala,
Che siano russi o francesi,
Versando vino nelle loro vene.
E l'anima è già pronta a ubriacarsi,
Dissolvendosi in un bicchiere d’ebbrezza,
Godendosi questo blues singhiozzante,
E svegliandosi a Parigi di notte.
Il sottile spirito dei croissant s’increspa,
E la fragranza fluttua sulla Senna,
Qui, gli zingari vaticinano margherite
E un tramonto in maschera danza.
Le librerie dell'usato sono colorate
Espongono il loro proemio per mostrarsi,
E sopra, come sono i più vivi,
Passeri e trambusto, come risultato.
E quei monisti viventi si dimenano:
Si raduna un passero teppista
Lui stesso sulle ali, un paracadutista,
Un talismano vivente che s’agita.
Tira i tentacoli d’una medusa,
Alza un sopracciglio con stupore,
Quella musica blues ambrata,
Com’un vino che il sangue ravviva.
E tale beatitudin aleggia,
E l'anima è come un'aquila pigra,
Non sogna più nient'altro,
Solo di ritrovar se stessa.

BLUES MUSIC
Ah... Amber blues music!
As if she touched hearts with a wing,
Either a Russian or a Frenchman,
Pouring wine through his veins.
And the soul is already ready to get drunk,
Dissolving in a glass of intoxication,
Enjoy this blues sobbing,
And wake up in Paris at night.
The subtle spirit of croissants is curling,
And the fragrance floats over the Seine,
Here - gypsies are guessing daisies
And a masquerade sunset is dancing.
Second - hand booksellers' shops are colored
They give out their prologue for show,
And above, how are the most alive,
Sparrows and hubbub, as a result.
And those living monists are scurrying around:
Flock up, a hooligan sparrow
Himself on the wings - a parachutist,
Wriggling is a living talisman.
Pulls the tentacles of a jellyfish,
Raised an eyebrow in amazement,
That amber blues music,
Like wine that excites our blood.
And such bliss is hovering,
And the soul is like a lazy eagle,
He no longer dreams of anything else,
Only he would find himself again.

Natalie Bisso’s poem Blues Music transforms a genre traditionally associated with melancholy into a luminous celebration of emotional vitality. Rather than presenting sadness as an end point, the poem reshapes it into a creative force that awakens perception, memory, and inner renewal. Through rich imagery, sensory language, and dreamlike movement across cultural landscapes, Bisso reveals how music can elevate the human spirit and reconnect individuals with beauty and meaning.
At the heart of the poem lies the paradox of the blues itself. Historically rooted in longing and sorrow, blues music becomes here a source of emotional expansion. The speaker describes the music as something that “touches hearts with a wing,” suggesting lightness, grace, and elevation rather than heaviness. Emotion flows “like wine through the veins,” an image that conveys warmth, connection, and shared humanity. The intoxication evoked throughout the poem is not destructive; instead, it represents openness to experience and the courage to feel deeply. Emotion becomes nourishment for the soul.
One of the most positive expressive elements of the poem is its sensory abundance. Bisso fills the poetic space with fragrances, colors, sounds, and movement. The “subtle spirit of croissants,” the atmosphere over the Seine, and the lively presence of sparrows create a world overflowing with life. These images suggest attentiveness to small pleasures and everyday wonder. Even ordinary scenes become radiant when filtered through artistic perception. The poem therefore celebrates awareness itself, encouraging readers to rediscover beauty within familiar surroundings.
Paris functions as more than a geographical setting; it becomes a symbolic landscape of artistic freedom. The second-hand booksellers, the dancing sunset, and the bustling urban life evoke creativity, history, and cultural continuity. This environment reflects a positive vision of human civilization as a shared artistic inheritance. The speaker’s emotional journey unfolds not in isolation but within a living cultural tapestry, implying that art and music connect individuals across nations and experiences.
Animal imagery further reinforces the poem’s affirmative energy. Sparrows represent vitality and spontaneity, while the image of the eagle suggests spiritual elevation. Even moments of stillness carry gentle hope, as the soul pauses not in despair but in contemplation. The poem acknowledges fatigue and longing, yet these feelings lead toward self-recognition rather than resignation. By the closing lines, the central desire is simple and constructive: to “find oneself again.” This quest frames emotional experience as a path toward renewal.
Stylistically, the poem’s fluid and associative structure mirrors musical improvisation. The shifting images resemble melodic variations, allowing emotion to unfold naturally rather than logically. This openness creates a sense of freedom, reinforcing the poem’s optimistic message: meaning emerges through feeling, imagination, and artistic expression. The reader participates in this movement, experiencing the poem less as a fixed statement and more as a living emotional process.
Ultimately, Blues Music expresses positivity not by denying sadness but by transforming it. Bisso suggests that vulnerability deepens perception and that art converts pain into beauty. Music becomes a bridge between inner and outer worlds, between memory and presence, between solitude and shared human experience. The poem affirms that emotional intensity can lead to joy, creativity, and self-discovery.
In this way, Blues Music stands as a lyrical affirmation of life’s emotional richness. Its expressive positivity lies in its belief that even the most melancholic melodies contain light, and that through art, the human spirit continually finds new ways to rise.
