Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to identify in the city of Milan an organized narcissistic movement (which has become a veritable underground usurper movement) that is crushing the world of poetry and, in turn, all art. Clearly, since art is a fairly faithful mirror of what happens in every sphere of society, it’s easy to understand that the national paralysis lies precisely in the sprawling action that this increasingly modern metropolis of Lombardy is enacting to the detriment of talent and all those who attempt to empathize with its seemingly welcoming structures.
A city that ends up being aptly symbolized by the figure of a spider trapping its prey in its web…
And thus the inevitable flight to the suburbs, the countryside, and the hometowns of so many immigrants has occurred, tired of the resulting rising rates of petty and macro-crime. In other words, the malignant boil is on the verge of exploding (it has already partially exploded) again in all its violence.
All that remains is to acknowledge all this and oppose the violent action to which narcissists—who, let us remember, infest everything, every sphere of society, even poetry—have condemned us all…
All this, however, is being condemned by a movement like the Empathic Movement (2020 onwards), which does not rest on its laurels by adapting to the rotten and corrupt system, thus seeking to please it… Empathism is a movement that is necessary for ordinary people before it is for us artists, just as the artist should always be necessary (as a guide) first to others and then to himself…
We must oppose this gigantic, interminable wave of narcissism that feeds on social media, like so many outlets, to swell its sea of egocentrism. MENOTTI LERRO: THE EPICENTER OF EUROPEAN MODERN NARCISSISTIC PARALYSIS IS MILAN IN 2025
